Week 8- Storytime

Place: Storytime at the Henderson Multigenerational Center
Cost: $27 class fee and $12 due on the first day for supplies ($39 in total)
Hours: Wednesdays from 9:30-10:15  (There are additional classes at other times).  This is a 6 week session.
Best for kids age:  2-4 years old

Each week we go to class for 45 minutes.  Luckily, Jocelyn is allowed to come along and she is always such a good girl at class.  At the beginning of class the teacher, Ms. Stephanie reads a story and then we make a craft that goes along with the book.  The crafts are perfect!  Perfect because there is a balance of parts that Charlie can do independently and parts I need to help him with.

Week #1

I feel like all of the classes are well thought out.  When necessary, Ms. Stephanie has pieces cut out in advance so we can complete the craft during the allotted time. If there is ever extra time at the end of the class then she reads the story again.

Week #2

I also love that the class is teaching Charlie how to listen in small group settings.  Additionally he is learning how to use scissors and glue.  (And I must say I love that this mess is not on my kitchen table!!!)

Another bonus to this class is that I have discovered the world of glue dots!  Moms- if you haven't seen these, find them- they will be a life saver.  Being a teacher for 8 years, I don't know how I haven't come across them before.  Glue dots are very similar to double sided tape.  This will be a welcome addition to craft time at our house!

Week #5

When possible, the classes typically go along with something happening during that time of the year.  Thankful we got to make Daddy's Valentines card at class.

Week #6

On the plus side: cost!!!  $6.50 a class.  All of the art supplies are there so I don't have to find them or organize them.  Charlie is surrounded with kids his age.
On the down side:  Nothing
